When Is the Next Rust Wipe?

The next Rust force wipe lands on the first Thursday of the month at 19:00 UK time. Because Facepunch is UK-based, that clock time stays fixed while the UTC value shifts: 18:00 UTC during British Summer Time and 19:00 UTC for the rest of the year.

Two different things get called "the next wipe", and mixing them up is the single most common reason players lose a base they just built.

A force wipe is mandatory. Facepunch ships the monthly Rust update on the first Thursday of every month, and every server in the game resets its map at that moment. Nobody opts out. Blueprints are a separate question: Facepunch forces a blueprint wipe only in some months, although many servers choose to wipe blueprints on force wipe day anyway. This is also what players mean when they say global wipe or forcewipe — all three words describe the same event.

A server wipe is a choice the server owner makes. Between force wipes, most networks run their own weekly, biweekly or monthly schedule at whatever hour suits their region. A weekly server can wipe three times between two force wipes. This is why "when does Rust wipe" has no single answer: it depends entirely on which server you play.

The hour trips people up because so many sites publish it as a fixed UTC value. It is not fixed in UTC. Facepunch works to UK local time, so the update goes out at 19:00 in Britain year-round. From late March to late October Britain runs on British Summer Time, which puts the wipe at 18:00 UTC. For the rest of the year Britain is on GMT and the wipe lands at 19:00 UTC. If you convert once and write the number down, you will be an hour wrong for seven months of the year.

Treat the date as fixed and the minute as approximate. Facepunch has rolled patches out early and late; the servers reset when the update actually ships, not when a countdown hits zero. Plan to be online a little before the hour rather than exactly on it.

Console runs a completely separate calendar. Rust Console Edition is developed by Double Eleven, and its official monthly servers wipe on the last Thursday of the month, not the first. That is roughly three weeks apart from PC. Applying the PC date to a console server is a reliable way to build a base days before it disappears.
