Armored Door Raid Cost in Rust

An armored door takes 3 C4, 5 rockets, 15 satchel charges or 250 explosive rounds. On raw sulfur the cheapest route is 3 C4 at 6,600 sulfur. An armored door has 1,000 health.

The armored door is the most expensive standard door in Rust, and that is the point of it. It exists to make the door a worse target than the wall beside it, which forces a raider to spend more or find another way in.

Compare it to what it is protecting. A stone wall needs 2 C4. An armored door needs 3. So on a stone base the armored door is actively counterproductive — you have made the door harder than the wall, and any competent raider simply blows the wall instead and saves a C4. Armored doors only make sense on sheet metal or armored walls, where the wall is the expensive option.

This is the single most common building mistake in Rust: upgrading doors past the walls around them. Money spent on an armored door in a stone base is money that buys the raider a discount.

On sulfur: 3 C4 is 6,600, 5 rockets is 7,000, 15 satchels is 7,200. C4 wins again, and the gap narrows enough that rockets become reasonable if you already have them and want the speed. Rockets go off instantly; satchels have a fuse and can dud, which matters when you are exposed at a door for the duration.

Explosive ammo at 250 rounds is 6,250 sulfur, technically the cheapest line on the table. In practice, firing 250 rounds into a door takes a long time, burns through weapon condition, and announces the raid to the whole map. It is a viable early-wipe option and a poor late-wipe one.

Before you price an armored door, check the rest of the base. Look for an un-upgraded wall, a window, a garage door on a different side, or a raidable roof. The armored door is where a defender expects the raid to happen, which usually means it is where the traps and the turrets are.

These numbers assume a full-health armored door with no repair during the raid.
